Young people gain an insight into different industrial sectors
From September 26th to 28th, 2018 the Discovery Truck stopped on FOERSTER company premises in Reutlingen. The truck is part of the Coaching4Future program, where high school students of surrounding schools get to experience different lines of work in the MINT-sector (mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology) and light their fire in a – hopefully industrial – career.
For three days, two experts explained the ins and outs of the industry in general as well as the different fields and occupations in particular to more than ten classes. The teenagers were able to experiment in all five areas of the process chain first hand: construction and design, testing and optimization, robotics and intelligent production, material flow and, last but not least, logistics. On more than 100 square meters, they got to program an industrial robot themselves, operate a Smart Factory and simulate logistics.
After extensively experiencing everything ‘still more or less in theory’ in the truck and Mr. Förster allowed the classes to see a real-life industrial company from inside and participate in a guided tour afterwards. Visibly impressed by the large systems in the technical center, students listened with great interest to the information given about the various occupations at FOERSTER and all the different areas in which our products are actually applied.
